Salt Lake City wanted violence, and UFC 332 delivered. Of the 14 fights at the Delta Center, 11 ended by KO/TKO. The other three went to decisions. Nobody tapped.

Main event: Natalia Silva def. Cong Wang (unanimous decision, 5 rounds)

Silva won the flyweight title fight the way you win five-round fights: by having more ways to win.

The numbers tell it cleanly. Silva out-landed Wang 109 to 98 in significant strikes, scored the fight's only knockdown in round 2, and went 3-for-5 on takedowns, piling up 4:12 of control time. Wang never shot a single takedown.

That last part is the story. Wang actually landed more total strikes (147 to 133), and she took round 4 on the feet, edging Silva 26โ€“24 in significant strikes. But a striker who can't threaten the takedown lets her opponent choose where the fight happens. Silva mixed in wrestling early, banked rounds 1 and 2 with control time, then closed the show with her best round of the night: 33 significant strikes at 63% in round 5.

The Counter's read: Wang is dangerous and proved she belongs at this level. But until she adds a grappling threat, elite flyweights will keep making her fight on their terms.

Payton Talbott def. Deiveson Figueiredo (KO/TKO, R1, 2:09)

This was the result of the night. Talbott dropped the former flyweight champion twice and finished him in just over two minutes. He landed 25 significant strikes to Figueiredo's 5. Figueiredo tried twice to take it down and got neither.

A win like that over a name like Figueiredo moves a fighter up the ladder fast. The question now isn't whether Talbott is for real. It's how soon the UFC puts a ranked bantamweight in front of him.
